I just got back from taking Lily "trick or treat"ing. She was a pirate. Her bag of candy was almost too heavy to carry. I saw about 20 kids dressed as pirates tonight. Easily more than half were girls - and not girls trying to look like guy pirates, no, they were girl pirates. Thanks, I'm sure, to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
I also think that the international "Talk-Like-a-Pirate" holiday (begun by a couple friends of mine) pronbably doesn't hurt either. As for me, I'm currently at the video store dressed up like the Phantom of the Opera and playing the movie (the musical version) as I type these words.
